The First CERACLAD in Seattle, WA

Our Japanese guests tour around Seattle, WA to find our older CERACLAD projects.

By Hina, aki & Yuki of Kmew Japan

Vicennial! It’s been 20 years since the first project CERACLAD in North America. We had the opportunity to tour a 20-year-old property and a 10-year-old property with our three Japanese guests. These two projects were originally renovations that switched from stucco to CERACLAD, serving as proof of CERACLAD's weather resistance and durability. The ventilation method allows moisture to escape from behind the exterior walls, enhancing the building's durability. It is easy to install and can be used not only for new construction but also for renovation work. Details on the timing of the two construction projects and the external appearance checks are provided below.

Luna Court Condominiums

Resided in 2002

The first property, Luna Court Condominiums was re-sided back with the CERACLAD striated stucco textured panels in 2002. As we studied the exterior walls, we noticed that the fading and staining were not very noticeable. The aesthetics are so well maintained that it appears as if the building was constructed within the last few years. With CERACLAD’s triple coated process, our ceramic coating acts as a protective barrier. Which prevents fading and discoloration over time and thereby preserving the aesthetic appeal of buildings. We also checked the openings, and they were all still well protected against leaks, with no signs of damage to the base material.

Harbor Park - resided in 2011

The second property was Harbor Park, a seaside building where CERACLAD was installed in 2011. The massing of the brick matched the simple texture of CERACLAD’s Contemporary Smooth very well, and the overall impression was one of luxury and calm. We did not see any damage or fading on the siding panels, and the building still retains its aesthetic appeal more than 10 years after the installation was completed.

These two properties prove that we can provide our clients with a beautiful appearance even after 20 years. Our 20-year anti-fade warranty actually works, and these properties are our proof that we live up to our warranty promises. This is our unique advantage that no other company can imitate.

As the month-long internship comes to a close, we are preparing to part ways with our three Japanese guests. They visited many of our projects, learned a lot from our North American branch, and from our architectural partners with whom they had the pleasure of conversing. After their visit to the first CERACLAD properties in North America that utilized our product, their experiences will pave the way for CERACLAD in the future, continuing to demonstrate the value of our products to more customers.

KMEW Japan - Osaka, Japan

Hina:

I am a construction method developer in Japan, and this is the first time I have seen a CERACLAD construction cases outside of Japan.

It was very exciting for me to see how the construction site and construction methods were different from those in Japan. And I learned that ease of installation and a product that will have the same quality no matter who installs it are more important.

I was very happy to have the opportunity to interview many customers and hear directly their thoughts on CERACLAD.

Thank you all for your cooperation!

Aki:

Through this study abroad experience, I am happy to realize that there is a need for KMEW's products even in Seattle, far away from Japan.

I also felt that while KMEW's quality is highly valued in foreign countries, where the culture and values are completely different from those of Japan, we need to better understand the local characteristics and develop our products with that perspective in mind.

It has been about 20 years since KMEW entered the U.S. market, and I would like to continue to work on product development with the perspective I gained from studying abroad so that we can better satisfy our American customers.

Thank you so much.

Yuki:

This one-month study abroad experience in the U.S. will change my sense of life.

I was able to learn how to work together and build a relationship of trust by interviewing several customers and having various ways of thinking about work, buildings, food, culture, and many other things that are different from those in Japan.

From the opinions of our customers and examples of our work, I am convinced that our technology is applicable in the U.S. and has many possibilities. I am proud of our technical capabilities and will continue to develop our technology.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone at KMEWUSA and all of our customers for their cooperation in this interview.

Thank you very much.
