The Streetscape of Virginia

Richmond United Clubhouse Study

By KMEW JAPAN

Richmond United

The area we visited in Virginia is rich in natural beauty and has a calm, historic atmosphere. As you walk through the town, you notice many traditional buildings constructed with authentic brick, as well as exteriors that combine wood lap siding and brick, creating a classic and timeless streetscape.

Amid this traditional setting, the Richmond United clubhouse, located in Glover Park, blends naturally into the local scenery while still presenting a modern architectural presence.

Why Ceraclad Was Chosen

Richmond United is the largest soccer club in the Richmond region and one of the leading youth soccer organizations in the United States. The club is highly regarded for its strong player development programs and its contributions to the local community. We were honored that Ceraclad was selected for their clubhouse—an important facility that supports both athletes and the broader community.

For the clubhouse project, our 8Reveal in Charcoal was selected. The dark siding complements the white brick base and warm wooden soffits, creating a stylish and impactful exterior. Ceraclad’s lineup includes border patterns, flat panels, and other versatile designs that blend seamlessly with a variety of architectural styles.

This project reaffirmed that even in areas characterized by traditional architecture, our products can harmonize with the surroundings while maintaining a distinct presence. Within Virginia’s classic streetscape, Ceraclad demonstrated its ability to integrate naturally into the environment while enhancing the building’s overall appearance.

The clubhouse’s white brick wall features bricks with randomized horizontal lengths, creating a more natural and organic expression. Currently, Ceraclad offers brick patterns in uniform sizes, so observing this approach highlighted the potential value of incorporating more varied, natural-looking brick expressions into future product concepts. While this is not an active product development initiative at this time, it inspired us to consider how such natural variation could be thoughtfully integrated into future designs

Looking Ahead: Supporting Community-Based Facilities

Richmond United serves as a central hub where local children and players gather, train, and grow. Being selected for such a meaningful facility reinforced our belief that Ceraclad can contribute not only to building exteriors but also to strengthening community identity and local landscapes. We will continue striving to develop high-quality products and provide strong support so that Ceraclad remains a trusted option for sports facilities, educational buildings, and other community-focused projects.
